Paperback - Pub 2005 / Author/Editor Dan Dimancescu, et al

Post-communist Europe is being rediscovered by investors, tourists, students of culture. One of these nations, Romania, is emerging from its own dark decades with a renewed sense of opportunity but also starkly aware of the hurdles in its path.  This half-full, half-empty story is told through the eyes of several collaborators with shared academic ties to  Harvard University.
From first hand experience they describe cultural issues confronting Romania as it tackles its own political and economic future.  They explore questions of  national identity, leadership, management know-how, and entrepreneurship. The authors are effective in their use of anecdotes, a wide range of sources, and tap a broad perspective through which to evaluate the nation, its people and its opportunities.
[Note: Written in 2005, many of the insights still hold true.]
